Understood the lingo? If you’ve spoken to a Developer, chances are that you may have heard these terms. Developers are meticulous. Sometimes, they even stand out even amongst themselves. Meet Jason, one of our Software Engineers.

Tell us, who is Jason?
Jason loves helping everyone and anyone (He smiles). I guess, if I could change someone’s life by guiding them, and if they excelled as a result, then I’d feel fulfilled. I just enjoy bringing out a side of someone that they didn’t even know existed. I generally spend a lot of time researching, which makes me an all rounder. I also invest a lot of time in gaming, as the online world of gaming with friends awakens a competitive rush inside me. I try my best not to procrastinate, especially when it comes to my goals and achievements and so, I believe that as human beings we can achieve anything we want. Only our mindsets are our greatest obstacles.

What’s your role at iKhokha?
I am a Software Engineer at iKhokha. I build and work on a lot of the backend services.

Who is Jason outside of iKhokha?
I am a chilled, down-to-earth guy. My parents are Pastors, so growing up, there were slightly stricter rules and expectations that we had to live by. Whilst I believe that nobody is perfect, I always do my best.

What’s your biggest strength?
My biggest strength is my passion! Which is what I do right now…Software. The knowledge that I’ve gained, by mostly being self-taught in this field, has brought me nothing but joy.

What’s the name of the last book you read?
Design Patterns.

Your advice to yourself on how to handle a stressful situation?
I tell myself, “It’s just a test. How are you going to handle it, Jason.”

If you were a crayon, what colour would you be?
Blue.

If you had to eat one meal, every day, for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Nando’s Quarter Chicken.

Describe iKhokha in one word?
Evolving.

Samantha Gounden

Hey, I’m Samwise. The Storyteller and friendly face behind the words, here at iKhokha. When I'm not dotting my i's and crossing my t's, I set out to conquer the universe in other ways…behind a camera lens, on radio or being a Podcast Princess. A perfect day? Curling up with a great book in one hand and coffee in the other. A perfect life? Smiles, giggles and the company of my devilishly gorgeous labs.
